Weird & Wonderful | Home Made Spacecraft Simulator (1963)

"It does give you the full effects of flying in space... not zero G, but everything you can expect to see in space you will see by means of this simulator."

Tonight reporter Julian Pettifer travels to Northwich, Cheshire, where - in the spare bedroom of Mr Cross - some of the most exciting developments in the British space programme are afoot.

Mr Cross has designed and built his very own spaceship flight simulator, and is attempting to become the first British subject to virtually orbit Mars.

Originally broadcast 2 May, 1963.
