LiDAR Reveals Lost Maya City in the Mexican Jungle

With all the satellite imagery and modern tools at our disposal, the fact we can still discover a lost city in the year 2023 is quite astonishing, and that’s what’s happened just recently in the Mexican jungle.

Archaeology game-changing LiDAR technology has revealed a settlement covering more than 124 acres. The site has a core area, located on high ground surrounded by extensive wetlands.


On finding the lost city with the groundbreaking technology, a team of archaeologists trekked some 60 kilometres or 37 miles into the dense Yucatan Peninsula jungles of Southern Mexico and they were certainly not disappointed with what they found.
