Space | Magic Fly LP (1977)
This is a masterpiece of the short lived Space Disco music scene (a variation of Hi-NRG Disco and part of 70s Eurodisco) and widely considered to be their best work.
1977-10-14 19:00:00 - Synthia Xtasia
This french electronic music band was founded in 1977 by Didier Marouani (Pioneer of the electronic
music genre, also known as Ecama) and had 2 other members, Roland Romanelli and Jannick Top.
The song "Magic Fly" became number one in the world (in record sales, as well as radio and club parades).
Together with Cerrone's "Supernature", it was the startsong of a new music genre called "Space Disco"
A nice thing to know is that "Magic Fly" was composed in the same appartment than "Oxygène"
from Jean Michel Jarre in 1976. Being good friends at the time Didier took over his appartment when JM left,
and created this masterpiece on a Korg Syth, an Arp Odysse and later on a Prophet 5 synth.
Some of the songs on this LP where covered. The Main hit "Magic Fly" in 2003 by the Belgian dance project
Minimalistix, and "Carry On, Turn Me On" also in 2003 by Kienzle & Iberle's "Touch Me".
The French Foreign Trade Minister André Rossi awarded Didier many golden records for having achieved one
of the most important successes within the French record industry..
They finally got their huge and deserved succes in the eastern countries, where they are seen as real legends.
