Fleetwood Mac | Landslide (1975)

"Landslide" is a song written by Stevie Nicks and performed by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac. The song was first featured on the band's self-titled 1975 album, Fleetwood Mac.

The song is about a father-daughter relationship. Stevie Nicks wrote it on the guitar in about five minutes in Aspen, Colorado.

She was surrounded by mountains and thinking, "Wow, all this snow could just come tumbling down around me and there is nothing I can do about it."

Nicks wrote this the night before her dad, who was the president of Greyhound Bus Lines, was operated on at the Mayo Clinic.

When she feels like this she just goes to a room and writes her thoughts down so she can read it and ponder what she has written.

"Landslide" reached No. 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 10 on the Adult Contemporary chart. "Landslide" was certified Gold in October 2009 for sales of over 500,000 copies in the United States.

According to Nielsen Soundscan, "Landslide" sold 2,093,186 copies in the United States as of 2017.
