The Magic Wands of Ancient Egypt

Thousands of years before Harry Potter entered Olivander’s, the ancient Egyptians had already mastered the art of wand making. They were probably not quite as powerful, but they were certainly more beautiful.

In this video we are going to look at the art of Egyptian wands and magic, and find out what it was all about.


Through archaeological excavations, it is known that wands were common in the Middle Kingdom of Ancient Egypt and were often featured in burials.


Although they do look more like boomerangs or throwing weapons, all evidence says they were ceremonial as Egyptian throwing sticks have been found to have a different shape and made of a different material.
