The Abyss Ep. 2 | Mussolini: Italy vs. Germany?

How became Mussolini became the new enemy of Hitler and Germany?

In 1943, the German army invades Italy, where fascism rules under Mussolini.

After the invasion of the Luftwaffe, Mussolini, the creator of fascism, broke the alliance with Hitler.

Nazi Germany's closest partner, the fascist Mussolini, is now lost. The two defenders of fascism have gone from friends to enemies.

Because of this new enemy, Hitler launched his own military action against Mussolini. Thus, the German groups break the resistance of the Italians on the Greek island of Kefalonia.

Mussolini's supporters become victims of German fascism. It is a long forgotten war crime ordered by Hitler himself.

This shows how extreme Hitler and his fascism was. But ultimately, Hitler saw Mussolini's fascism as a model for his idea of Nazi Germany.
