Vladimir Putin says Russia hit Ukraine with a new intermediate-range ballistic missile, days after Kyiv used Western-supplied weapons to strike inside Russia.

Today, A historic escalation has occurred as the first known IRBM launch has taken place from Russia targeted at the Ukrainian city of Donetsk during the armed conflict. This is the first incident where an IRBM was used in active combat.

The warhead was equipped with MIRV technology which was caught on camera by Ukrainian intelligence. This marks a major escalation in the war in Ukraine as Russia desperately tries to recover its failing war effort. We also received news that Ukraine has launched a counterattack at Russia's Kapustin War Nuclear Test Site (the launch site of the IRBM) in retaliation for the launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile.

And finally, we have learned the the Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom has informed Britain that they are now in a "direct war" with Russia due to recent Storm Shadow missile strikes on the Russian mainland by Ukrainian forces

The Russian president says the strike was in response to Ukraine's "use of American and British long-range weaponry".

It's still unclear exactly what was damaged in the attack, which Ukraine says was targeting infrastructure in the eastern city of Dnipro.
