Microsoft Gave Up On Social Media but they're The Winners

When you think of the biggest social media companies in the world, you probably think of YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

This isn’t surprising given that these are the most ubiquitous platforms in the world boasting billions of users each, but what if I told you that there was a social media platform that was far more powerful than any of these.

What is this secret social media you ask? Well, it’s of course LinkedIn. LinkedIn no doubt has a level of cringe and toxicity due to everyone being hypercompetitive and looking out for themselves, but LinkedIn is also an extremely valuable group of users given that everyone is generally well accomplished and well off.

This makes for a highly monetizable user base that generates just under $15 billion every single year.

Considering this, it’s no wonder why Microsoft decided to purchase LinkedIn for $26.2 billion in 2016.

This video explains the rise of LinkedIn and why LinkedIn may very well be the most powerful social media platform.
