It was announced at a Press Conference, titled ‘Chincana: Revealing of a Mystery’ and the news was shared across the world, a discovery that has long been rumoured, one we’ve expected, but never officially confirmed.
Dubbed the Chincana de Cusco by experts, chincana meaning labyrinth or place where one gets lost in Quechua – the language of the Incas, the tunnel discovered runs from the Temple of the Sun, also known as the Coricancha, in Cusco, all the way to the ancient fortress of Sacsayhuaman, which is located around 1 mile away.
But wasn't this known about already?
Had people already been inside?
